Arindam Mandal is an Advocate practising before the High Court at Calcutta, with over two decades of experience in complex litigation, arbitration and commercial advisory. His practice encompasses domestic commercial arbitration, construction and infrastructure disputes, constitutional and commercial litigation, property and real estate, corporate transactions, and trust and succession matters. He has represented the State of West Bengal and its departments, as well as developers, businesses, institutions, investors, charitable foundations and private families. Arindam holds an LL.B. from the University of Calcutta, following a B.Sc. in Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics from the same university.
Arindam has particular expertise in construction, engineering and works contract disputes, advising and representing clients throughout the arbitral process and in subsequent proceedings relating to challenges, enforcement and appeals. His litigation practice extends to proceedings before the High Court at Calcutta, Commercial Courts and District Courts, including writ, commercial and civil proceedings, Original Side matters and appellate proceedings.
Alongside his contentious practice, Arindam advises on property and development transactions, including title and conveyancing, development and joint development arrangements, agreements for sale, partition and family settlements, leases and licences, and related real estate matters. His corporate and transactional practice includes shareholder arrangements, business transfers, restructuring, investment documentation, licensing, consultancy and commercial agreements. He also advises on the establishment and governance of charitable foundations and educational institutions, including the structuring and documentation of trusts.
Arindam has been appointed as an Arbitrator, including by the High Court at Calcutta, in contractual and commercial disputes. He has acted both as Sole Arbitrator and Co-arbitrator and brings to his arbitral practice the benefit of extensive experience in commercial disputes, particularly those arising from construction, infrastructure and works contracts.
