Event Report – XMC’24
The Xavier Society of Law & Justice (XSLAJ) of Xavier Law School, St. Xavier’s University, Kolkata in association with Khaitan & Co and Sharma & Sharma, Advocates LLPsuccessfully organised 2ndXavier Mediation Competition on the 5th & 6th of April, 2024. The 2nd XMC’24 was held at Xavier Law School, St. Xaviers University, Kolkata, where 26 teams across India participated.
Sharma and Sharma, Advocates and Legal Consultants LLP along with Khaitan & Co, Kolkata were the Title Sponsors of the said event. Learned Advocates from the office of the two Title Sponsors were graciously invited to adjudicate the said Mediation Competition, wherein teams from various Law Universitites in India had participated in the said event, and Jindal Global Law School was adjudged the Best Negotiating Pair of XMC’24. The XMC’24 Champions Cup and the grand cash prize of Rs. 50,000 was awarded to Jindal Global Law School. The Best Mediator Trophy and the grand prize of Rs. 30,000 was also awarded to the participant from Jindal Global Law School. The National Law School of India University (NLSIU), Bangalore emerged as the Runner-Up Negotiating Pair in XMC’24. They were awarded the Runners-Up Negotiating Pair Trophy and the Cash Prize of Rs. 20,000. Participant from Maharashtra National Law University, Mumbai emerged as the Runner-Up Mediator in XMC’24. They were awarded the Runners-Up Mediator Trophy and the Cash Prize of Rs. 10,000.

We hope that by way of this event, we were successful in promoting and promulgating the concept of Mediation and its benefits to everyone who were part of the said event, either directly or indirectly, and we hope to have even more events of this nature and stature, to enable the students and also the people involved with it, to have a first hand experience of the subject matter and also to provide them with the exposure to the practical applicability of the laws.
